MOTO G FOR TECH GEEKS

                                                         by Piyush Kumar

Guys we know that we have been quite late in uploading our review for Moto G,  the delay was due to the limited availability of Moto G henceforth we got our hands pretty late on this device we hope the detailed review  will makeup for the delay .  Moto G was launched on the 5Th  of February in India and is currently available only through Flipkart. The phone since its launch has been selling as hot cakes and henceforth was sold out in India and the the customers had to pre-book the device for about 20 days in advance to get hold of the device, but then  flipkart came to the rescue and the as of the device is available and is in stock. Moto G as of now is available in two variants, 8GB model and 16GB model.

Now cutting the chase short and coming straight to the performance of moto G. When we were testing the Moto G, we found that the performance of this device is best-in-class in the 15k segment. We also tried to hack this phone and we successfully were able to do it. For our readers (who are in for a treat) the whole procedure to hack this phone is written at the end of this review. Moto G is a marvelous device by Motorola and is one of the best budget android phone at present. If we look at the hardware specs of this device it owns a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quadcore processor with exceptional performance which no other brand as of now is providing in the 15k segment except XOLO Q1100. Moto G also holds in its arsenal the 450MHz single core Adreno 305 GPU which is also best in its class when compared to Samsung S and Sony Xperia M and also the Micromax canvas. Moto G also owns a 4.5 HD,1280x720 multi touch IPS display screen which is also best-in its class. the device also Dons 1GB of RAM and is packed with li ion 2070 mAh battery which works quite good and to capture your memories the phone has also been armed with 5 MP camera and 1.3 MP secondary camera.

We had tested Moto G thoroughly and found that the performance of this device is exceptional under the 15k segment. The build quality of this device is also robust and the back panel is also sightly depressed under the camera which gives the phone provides a study  grip. the phone scored 17,263 in CPU  and I/O tests which were far better than any other device under this segment. It even beats Nexus 4 and Xperia C in the CPU performance. When we tested the GPU, then we found it is quite impressive but not the best but on the flip side we should also see that we cant get better graphics than this device under this segment. while performing the Quadrant test the device scored 8000 points which is good as compared to Xperia M and Xolo Q1100. In multi thread test it even manages beats Samsung Galaxy S2, Micromax Canvas Turbo and LG Optimus L9, which are priced above than this device.  The RAM of Moto G is 1GB and works without and glitches  games work seamlesly on this device without any hangs or other type of errors. the makers of moto Moto G also claim that it can play videos upto 30fps, but when we tested this device with GFX, we found that it can't play videos upto 30fps  but can manges to play videos up to 27fps which is also quite good but not the best. The UI of this device can be also customised extensively with different types of widgets available online, The 3D mark icestorm gave the score of 5411 better than Xperia M, LG L9 and Optimus F6, Micromax Canvas doodle and turbo, Xolo Q1100 and even Google Nexus 4. Moto G supports HTML5 and is MIDP java emulator compatible which makes browsing experience quite good and user friendly.

But on the other side Moto G also has some drawbacks. One and the main problem is the camera quality of this device. Although it has been powered with a 5 mega pixel camera but the shutter speed and  the performance of the camera are really poor. The other problem is the irremovable battery the uni body design. Another drawback is the model of this device. The build quality of Moto G is good but to some the model might look quite outdated. Currently Moto G is available only through Flipkart in India, It is again a drawback because flipkart has very good service in tier 1 and 2 cities but what about tier 3 cities? Flipkart has no service in rural and tier 3 cities so what if the person wants to buy this device? There is a report that some middlemen were taking extra money from the rural and tier 3 city's customers due to unavailability of flipkart in these areas and also the poor customer service is again a problem with Moto G. But overall Moto G is a fantastic device under 15k segment and till present date it is the best android phone in terms of performance and hardware under budget segment.
